Web Connection 5.60 supports working on a low cost host, but frankly this isn't a great solution. It works (if the host supports full trust ASP.NET hosting) but in my experience these cheap hosting sites are dreadfully overloaded and slow (and recycling application pools every few minutes which is terrible for performance).
If you're running a full box (or VM) then this doesn't matter because you're in control of the box and it will likely be all set for Full Trust.
What is the problem exactly? Is manual install working as per steps in the latest help files online?

Pre-5.5x versions of Web Connection's auto-installers might not correctly install Web Connection on Win7/2008 R2 machines especially on 64 bit ones due to configuration changes on those servers.
If you have major issues I can take a look at it - I'm trying to minimize installation pain and document all potential issues. OTOH, most of the things I've looked at recently always had to do with missing installed components of IIS...

Thanks Rick, I may have my question in wrong context of FoxInCloud, I'm trying to run a web connect server on go daddy.com and I can't get the wc.dll to work on win 2008 w/ IIS 7.5. I wasn't aware about Full Trust. My last hosting company, VPSland.com was hosting wc apps fine in 2003 server then lost all my data and they couldn't do anything else. So time to move on. I checked out discountasp, but don't we need at least virtual dedicated servers to config and run web connect ok? It doesn't seem that they provide RDP access on their servers. It's getting harder to find good deals for this, aye? Thanks again for any response.

Matthew,
Is your app running in Full Trust? Otherwise it won't work. GoDaddy doesn't allow full trust by default - you have to pester them for it.
I know discountasp.net supports full trust operation.

I am having exact same problem...I just got a godaddy virtual server with Windows 2008 and IIS 7.5, and for the life of me can't get this to run my WC .exe in file based mode. I've setup this .exe a jillion times but this web server won't budge...would love any help too!

This question is how to enable the wc.dll to run in an IIS 7.5 environment. The documentation is very good, but in only goes up to 7.0.
I have installed the ISAPI and CGI Restriction feature. In there I have set the path to c:\app\site\bin\wc.dll. I have checked the "Allow extension path to execute." In the Handler Mappings I have ISAP-dll enabled, path set to *.dll, Path Type as File, and Handler set to ISAPIModule.
I'm not sure this is right. Well, I'm sure it's not right because it fails. When I type in the url - http://192.168.1.7/mud/bin/wc.dll?FoxInCloud~Default: It wants to save or open the wc.dll.
Any help is appreciated.
TIA.
