You can probably remove .NET 3.0. I wouldn't remove 2.0 though - you probably have some dependency on it with some system apps since it's widely used.
As others have said - I would suggest:
- Moving your Page File to a different drive/partition
- Repartitioning your hard drive to make the primary partition larger
The former should easily give you a couple of gigabytes of space back. Both are non-destructive (using the right tools for the latter).

Actually I have very little in the windows/$NTUninstall directories. However windows does have 4.48 GB and that seems a lot. What could that be and would CCleaner help or some other program? Do I need both MS .net framework 2.0 (SP2) and MS .net framework 3.0 (sp2) or can I remove the 2.0? Even a couple of hundred meg will increase my space from 500MB to 700 MB

You might want to look at CCleaner from Piriform. This finds all sorts of stuff to get rid of. One of the main space wasters is uninstall files for old hotfixes. We've used it on several W2003 servers over the years with no problems.
Also, it sounds like you can move your page file to a different drive. That's relatively easy to do.

Actually we do not save anything on the c: drive, it has only the basic programs, part of SQL that installs on drive C and windows. I think it might be the large page file though. There are dell drivers, outlook installed just so the auto email is sent out. Really dont know where else the space is gone. Made the mistake of setting this as a 8GB partition instead of 12 GB. Might have to switch to the old backup server and reformat this. I suppose there is no way to get more space on c: (e:\ has tons of space) other than reformatting.
There has got to be other stuff that you can remove that will be more efficient than the 100megs that might be freed by .NET... Backup files, pack the databases etc. etc. IAC it's a bad idea to run low on disk space because once you run out you can really screw up your partition if it ever does run full - In my experience they become unrecoverable once you overfill them. You really need to think of a strategy to move to a bigger drive. +++ Rick --- +++ Rick ---
I only have 544 MB free space on drive C, running W2003 Server.
Keeping getting foxpro message 'not enough disk space' when creating SQL cursors sometimes. Right now it is infrequenct but will increase as space goes down. MS Net framework 2 and 3 (service pack 2) take about 360 MB.
Would it help to reduce the page file size?
I wouldn't recommend it as there maybe a number of applications on your system that use it. If you're running anything past Windows XP, .NET 2.0 will be a non-uninstallable system component and the footprint is pretty small anyway - it's not going to save you much.
I have space restrictions and wondered if I can remove the MS Net framework from my server. I am running WC and foxpro 9 with SQL server.
