I am noticing another West Wind product "West Wind Web Service Proxy Generator" - is this the software that is added to Web Connection that now allows us to host Foxpro on low cost hosts?

No the Web Service Proxy Generator is a tool to call SOAP Web Services with Visual FoxPro. It's a client side tool mainly.

I've been studying HTML,CSS with PHP recently because Foxpro, the language I've used exclusively for the past 20 years could only be used at expensive hosting company's that set up their servers to run Web Connection. Having the ability to now have more hosting options is a big plus.

In your videos, you mention using Visual Studio with ASP.NET. - Is this the same as using the free Visual Studio Express 2008 or 2010?

Yes you can use the free Visual Web Developer Express 2010 although that's not required. Web Connection only uses the tools to help with design and layout - it doesn't natively use anything .NET to execute/run your code.
