wwFTP issues with Verizon air cards

I'm using wwFTP to download upgrades for my clients. Works great most of the time, allowing them to set the passiveFTP switch if they need to.
The problems I'm having are invariably with Verizon 4g aircard and MiFi users. It let's them log in to the FTP site, but not download. It just hangs. I've done a search and do see where Verizon has changed something regarding FTP access, but I was wondering what else I can look at to get around this issue if possible.
