Michele,

Very simple: a number of CAS is assigned to a Server (each server has a unique ID) and each time a user connects to your Web app, FIC will check if a CAS license is available or not. If a CAS license is available, access will be granted.

FIC provides more flexibility (see our FAQ):
1/ only "active" sessions are counted
2/ If all CAS license assigned to your server are already in use (and active) FIC will continue - exceptionaly and temporarily - to grant access to the web app for the new user. A warning will be sent to you by email - as administrator - to inform you that you are exceeding your CAS license. Our anonymous FIC License Server monitors CAS usage only, and when our reports shows that this situation repeats itself, we will simply invite you to increase the number of CAS license assigned to your server to correct this situation.

Another option, is to consider having a pool of CAS licenses shared between all your web apps and customers. In this case it make sense to have some extra CAS license for added flexibility

Ok, but how does this mechanism function in fic.....how are concurrent users cheched by FIC ? If i buy 250 users and i need to put them on different servers in different quotas, how do i do this ?

1/ FIC doesn’t include a mechanism to assign Concurrent Active Sessions (CAS) licenses to various applications running on the same Server.
FIC is multi-app, it means you can put as many applications on your FoxInCloud Application Server as you wish at no extra cost. Consequently the Concurrent Active Sessions (CAS) licenses are associated to the Server and shared between all applications on that Server.

2/ With proper login/password mechanism you could control access to your applications and consequently control/limit CAS usage but this is not convenient for applications allowing anonymous access to specific forms/screens.

How does licensing work in FIC ? When i buy a x number of users where i define the users i use on a particular server ? Can i define a number of users for an app and another number of users for another app on the same server ?
